Ailey Arts In Education Residency


"To be who you are and become what you are capable of is the only goal worth living." Alvin Ailey's vision of dance as a celebration of human spirit lives on through the annual Ailey Arts in Education residency at the Lower School. The two-week program develops open-mindedness, encourages respect, and fosters unity. Learn more.


Mind, Character, Community: Swimming at Riverdale


Swimming is a grueling sport. Fractions of seconds can separate winners and losers. Riverdale swimmers say swimming makes them stronger mentally, and gives them a supportive community that helps them push beyond their limits.  Learn more.



Middle School Project Week

Want to be a movie director? A fashion designer? A surgeon? A sports journalist? Middle School Project Week introduces students to a range of professions and passions. This year, students could choose from 23 workshops, 14 led by Riverdale parents. Read more


Guest Speakers

As part of the Middle School's discussion on immigration, Amanda Quaid '01, an actress and vocal coach, talked to the students about biases associated with accents and speech patterns. You can listen to her talk on Riverdale Livestream.

  • Summer is an exciting time at Riverdale. ESF offers camps and sports camps on our campuses. Interested in bots, code, art, literature, theater, photography? Riverdale's Project Knowmad for Middle and Upper School students is led by the Riverdale faculty and offers a range of creative workshops throughout the summer. 
  • Global studies trips leave for Spain, France, Chile, Italy and China in March. Summer trips are planned to Japan, Hawaii/New Zealand, Peru, and Cuba. 
  • Head of School Dominic A.A. Randolph will lead a session at SXSWedu in Austin next month on the advantages of taking a gap year. 
  • The new Upper Learning Building on the Lower School campus was featured in Architectural Record last month.
  • Clifford Ross '70, an internationally recognized multimedia artist, credits Riverdale with his audacious curiosity in this video.
