MS Assembly: Amanda Quaid '01
Amanda Quaid is an actor, filmmaker, and teacher from New York City. Her love of theater began in the audience of the Broadway production of Cats, and she began performing as a child dancer at the Joffrey Ballet.
Her first professional role was Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival age 18, and she got her Equity card playing Rosalind in As You Like It at the Folger. She made her Broadway debut in 2008 in Equus.
She has directed two short films: Toys, which she also animated (Official Selection: Palm Springs ShortFest, LA Shorts Fest), and English, which premiered at Cannes Short Film Corner. She has a third short film and a feature screenplay in development.
As an educator, Quaid is on the faculty of HB Studio and Freeman Studio, where she teaches actors to work with dialects and heightened language. She was recently featured on WNYC's Studio 360, teaching a British accent to host Kurt Anderson.
