Athlete of the Week

May 8 to May 14

Congratulations to Marti Gendel '18 (track & field) and Alex and Harry Portnoy '20 (tennis).

Marti finished 1st in the 3200M at the Ivy league meet. Alex and Harry finished league competition this season 13-0.

May 1 to May 7

Daniel Belfer '18 (baseball) and Gabby Herzig '17 (golf) are Athletes of the Week.

Daniel's walk-off single earned Riverdale a 5-4 win over Saint Ann's School. Gabby finished her senior season undefeated in the Ivy league.

April 24 to April 30

Marnie Foster '17 (lacrosse) and the 4x400 boys' relay team (track & field) are Athletes of the Week.

Marnie had five goals and two assists in a nail biting 15-14 win over Fieldston. Ernie Robertson '18, Tobias Wolfson '20, Willy White '19, and Aaron Miller '20 set a new Riverdale record with a time of 3:33.72.

April 17 to April 23

Elie Genatt '20 (lacrosse) and Ross Krakower '19 (baseball) are Athletes of the Week

Elie had five goals and one assist in a 15-9 win over the Masters School. Ross had multiple hits, including one grand slam, in a 13-3 win against Trinity School.

April 10 to April 16

August Biben '19 (baseball) and Marnie Foster '17 (lacrosse) are Athletes of the week.

August threw a complete game, allowing zero runs, three hits, and striking out five in a 6-0 win over Collegiate. Marnie was the leading scorer in a 16-6 win over Spence, scoring 6 goals on 9 shots.

April 3 to April 9

Ernie Robertson '18 (track) and Audrey Wisch '19 (track) are Athletes of the Week.

Ernie won the high jump at the NYC Mayor's Cup. Also at the Mayor's Cup, Audrey finished 4th overall in the 1500M, setting a new Riverdale record of 5:08.67.

Feb. 6 through Feb. 12

George Harvey '17 (squash) and Rachel McIntyre '17 (basketball) are Athletes of the Week.

George came back after losing the first match to win the next three in an exciting match against Fieldston. Rachel had an impressive defensive game in a win against a tough Hackley team.

Jan. 30 through Feb. 5

Catie Goodell '17 (basketball) and Ernie Robertson ’18 (indoor track) are Athletes of the Week.

Catie scored an impressive 29 points in a win over Dwight. Ernie broke his own Ivy League and Riverdale record in the high jump with a new personal best of 6’5”.

Jan. 23 through Jan. 29

Jake Klores '17 (basketball) and Erxi Lu '20 (swimming) are Athletes of the Week.

Jake scored the game winning shot to send Riverdale past Trinity at the buzzer. Erxi came in first place in her 200 free and 500 free, racing her personal best in the 500 free.

Jan. 9 through Jan. 15

David Goldman '17 (basketball) is Athlete of the Week. In a win over Hackley, David finished the game with an impressive 24 points.

Jan. 2 through Jan. 8

Catie Goodell '17 (basketball) and Ernie Robertson '18 (indoor track) are Athletes of the Week. While the Falcons could not pull off a win, Catie had an impressive 27-point game against Packer Collegiate. Ernie finished second overall in the high jump, setting a new personal best and school record of 6'4" at the Hispanic Games.

Dec. 12 through Dec. 18

David Goldman '17 (basketball) and the girls's 4x400 swimming relay are Athletes of the Week. David was named to the All Tournament Team at the Northshore, Florida Tournament. Maeve Reilly '18, Shae Simpson '19, Maddy Noah '19, and Saskia Heinemann '17 were victorious in their freestyle relay.

Dec. 5 through Dec. 11

Rachel McIntyre '17 (basketball) and Ernie Robertson '18 (indoor track) are Athletes of the Week. Rachel scored 14 points in a win against Nightingale Bamford and 13 points in a win against Convent of the Sacred Heart. Ernie won the Varsity High Jump Championship with a new Riverdale record of 6'2".

Oct. 31 through Nov. 6

The members of Riverdale's Field Hockey team are Athletes of the Week. The team won the NYSAIS semi-final.

Oct. 24 through Oct. 30

Cece Clairmont '20 (tennis) and Jackson Harris '18 (cross country) are Athletes of the Week. Cece won her singles matches, locking in a 3-2 win over Fieldston. Jackson finished second at the Ivy League Championships, setting a new 13:37.20 record.

Oct. 17 through Oct. 23

Jackson Harris '18 (cross country) and Malaika Sipp '17 (field hockey) are Athletes of the Week. Jackson placed seventh at the Collegiate Invitational and Malaika scored the game winning goal against Horace Mann at Homecoming.

Oct. 10 through Oct. 16

Catie Goodell '17 (field hockey) is Athlete of the Week. Catie scored a goal in over time to boost the Falcons to victory over Brearley.

Oct. 3 to Oct. 9

Jackson Harris '18 (cross country) and Christina Janulis '17 (field hockey) are Athletes of the Week.

Jackson placed 3rd out of 190 runners at the NYC Mayor’s Cup. Christina scored the final goal in a 2OT win over Brearley.

Sept. 26 to Oct. 2

Aliah Banchik '17 (volleyball) and Jeremy Kasdin '18 (soccer) are Athletes of the Week.

Aliah ended her game against Long Island Lutheran High School with 17 kills and 10 digs. Jeremy, the goalie, had his third shut out in the Ivy League against Trinity.

Sept. 19 to Sept. 25

Christina Janulis '17 (field hockey) and Julian Burden '19 (soccer) are Athletes of the Week.

Christina scored the sole goal in a close 1-0 Falcon win over hill rival Fieldston.

Julian was boys soccer's leading scorer of the week. His most impressive goal was a left-footed volley to himself in the game against Fieldston.

Sept. 12 to Sept. 18

Rachel Horne '20 (soccer) and Jeremy Kasdin '18 (soccer) are Athletes of the Week.

In a tough loss to Hackley, Rachel nabbed Riverdale's single goal.

Jeremy was credited with a number of key saves in a win against Dalton.

Sept. 5 to Sept. 11

Aliah Banchik '17 (volleyball), pictured above, and Jackson Harris '18 (cross country) are Athletes of the Week.

In a win against School of the Holy Child, Aliah finished with 8 kills and 13 digs.

Jackson finished 15th at the Somer Invitational Meet with a personal best of 18:35.51.
