When Riverdale talks about community, we refer to the caring relationships that can be seen in every facet of the school's life. Riverdale's faculty and students volunteer together, travel together, play sports together, create art, music, and drama together, and form successful teams because they value collaboration and respect each other. Riverdale's community offers students many opportunities for leadership, networks, and partnerships. And we ask something in return: Do your best to help others; change your community for the good. It's great to come here and be welcomed. It's also great to have something expected of you.

Homecoming 2014

Meet the Riverdale community as alumni, faculty, current students, and parents come together to share their appreciation for the school.

“I have long believed that equipped with a keen mind and a generous heart, a man or woman has the best chance for personal happiness and social usefulness.” John Haydn Jones, head of Riverdale Country School, 1949-1972

Upstanding Citizens

"This is a community of upstanding citizens — kind, caring, thoughtful — the kind of people you want your children to interact with each day. Everyone from the school's accessible headmaster to the administration, faculty, deans, and student body reflects the school's mission of a caring community, thereby committing Riverdale to an environment of serious purpose, where the emphasis is on rigorous academics, excellence in sports, the promotion of integrity and moral values, all in an atmosphere of friendship and caring support."

— Riverdale Parent, 2014
