All of our students should have the opportunity to learn a second language. At Riverdale, we teach Spanish to all of our Lower School students. In our Early Childhood classes (Pre-K and Kindergarten) the students explore the Spanish language through music, movement, and Spanish class, where they experience music fundamentals, creative movement routines, and Spanish immersion lessons. In first grade, students continue in music, movement, and Spanish twice per week. Additionally, first graders participate in a movement and drama class with a Spanish element. In second grade, students have a Spanish language class for half of the year. Our Upper Learning students have Spanish class twice per week, with a focus on vocabulary development, comprehension, expressive language, and culture study.
