"How We G.L.O.W." Performed at Riverdale
Posted 03/07/2016 05:05PM

Emily Schorr Lesnick '07, a member of the Riverdale theater department faculty and the Community Engagement and Service Learning Teams, collaborated with Jamila Humphrie on "The How We G.L.O.W. Project," an interview theater piece based on 21 interviews with lgbtq+ youth of diverse backgrounds.

On Friday, March 4, a small cast playing multiple roles presented the work at Riverdale. The script was created entirely from the words of the interview subjects as they discussed their sexuality, gender identity, and experiences in schools. G.L.O.W., which refers to Gay, Lesbian or Whatever, is the name of a student group at Riverdale and other schools. Produced by the Identity Theater Company, the show was previously performed at Standard Toykraft in Brooklyn and will be performed at schools and community centers across the region.
