Theater Arts Night Spotlights Upper School Theater, Dance Classes

Nearly 50 Upper School students displayed their acting and dance talents at the annual Theater Arts Night.


Dancers Fahima Alli '17, Nathalia Benitez '17, Kamala Hargrove '15, Amaris Hemmings '15, Katelyn Schwartz '17, Diana Stettner '15, and Rebecca Thau '16 performed two dance routines: one to Christina Aguilera's "Good Girl," and another to "Layers" by David Karagianis.

Several students from the Intro to Theater class performed original monologues: Amanda Chiles '17, Robert Frank '17, Eliot Hawkins '17, Davis Holzman '17, Joanna Miral '17, and Matthew Slater '17. In addition, Grace Haughton '17 performed an original monologue written by Bailey Landow '17. Three Intro to Theater students performed Shakespearan monolgues: Liza Gross '17 (Richard III); Nikki Ziebelman '17 (Taming of the Shrew), and Bahsil Moody '17 (Romeo and Juliet). Performing open scenes were Nina Hay '17 and Jack Harrist '17; Jack Silver '17 and Tasfia Shawlin '17; and Max Spirer '17, Max Arcara '17, and Matt Weinberger '17.

The Acting I class performed several David Ives pieces. Jason Kahn '16, Hannah Ludemann '16, and Joey Ramesar '16 presented Mere Mortals; Irene Belenova '16, Nicholas Wren '16, and Jack Tien-Dana '16 did The Philadelphia; and Jake Fallek '16, Deen Jordan '16, and Jordan Knitzer '16 performed Words, Words, Words.

Students in the Advanced Acting class presented two scenes from Lorraine Lansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, as well as The Incomplete Works of William Shakespeare. Ian Blow '15, Iman Blow '15, Olivia Irby '14, Gillian Leffler '15, Fernando Medina '15, Madeline Meyer '15, and Berk Pearlstein '15 performed the Raisin scenes. Joining Ian, Iman, Olivia, Gillian, Fernando, Madeline, and Berk in Shakespeare

were Marisa Feld '14, Anabel Getz '16, Keifer Ludwig '15, Max Nelson '14, Rachael Sonnenberg '15, and Courtney Taylor '15.
