Ian Zelbo '22 is one of two dancers performing as the Little Prince in "The Nutcracker" this season at the New York City Ballet.
In an article in The New Yorker, writer Marina Harss notes: "For any kid, getting to play the Nutcracker is a major life event. He’s ten or eleven or twelve, with just a few years of ballet school behind him. And then there he is, leading troops into battle, experiencing one of ballet’s most magical transformations, and holding the theatre’s attention during a long scene in which he recounts his exploits in combat through balletic mime."
Describing one of Ian's performances, she writes: "It’s a weird thrill to see someone so young hold his own with total aplomb in front of so many people."
Ian will dance in 25 performances. The ballet runs through Dec. 31.
