Riverdale Country School is committed to attracting and admitting a highly qualified student body with diverse talents, interests, and backgrounds. Our commitment to financial aid enables the school to offer students who might not otherwise have access to an independent school education the opportunity to enroll regardless of their financial circumstances.
Financial aid is available in Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 and is offered to admitted students on the basis of financial need and the availability of funds. There are no financial aid awards based solely on merit. The financial aid evaluation is made independently of the admission decision and does not affect a candidate's eligibility for admission.
For the 2016-2017 school year, Riverdale has allocated nearly $8.8 million in financial aid. These funds support tuition for the 20 percent of the student body who receive financial aid and provide an “Extra Fund” to support the co-curricular expenses beyond books, lunch, and required activities, which are all included in the tuition.
Our financial aid application process draws on the best practices and policies of other independent schools and colleges and universities. To ensure an equitable distribution of the financial aid budget, families applying for financial aid must submit the financial aid application and their previous year's complete federal tax return. Assistance is based on the entire, unique financial picture of each family, taking into account a variety of factors. Each financial aid application is assessed individually and applications for continued assistance must be filed annually.
I look forward to learning more about you and your family.
