Volunteer

Riverdale thanks our many alumni volunteers who offer their time, energy, and spirit to support the school. If you are interested in becoming an alumni volunteer, there are myriad opportunities.

Class Correspondent
Class Correspondents serve an important and highly visible role for Riverdale, facilitating communications between their classes and the school. Acting as the voice of their classmates, these volunteers solicit and submit Class Notes, provide updated information on "lost" alumni, and may serve as part of their Reunion Committees during their reunion years. As representatives of the school, correspondents are also asked to make annual gifts to Riverdale to the best of their ability, demonstrating their continuing commitment to the school both in time and philanthropy.

Annual Fund Volunteer
Personal outreach from a classmate is the most effective way to secure a gift for the Annual Fund. An Annual Fund Volunteer selects a group of classmates, or even the entire class, to contact each year, via mail, e-mail, or phone calls. During a reunion year, he or she may be asked to serve on the class's Reunion Gift Committee.

Class Reunion Volunteer
Reunions are a great time to reconnect with friends and classmates. As a Reunion Volunteer, you not only join in the reconnection, but actually assist in planning events to promote a lively and rewarding weekend. Networking and updating contact information for classmates through phone calls, e-mails, letters, and social media helps generate strong reunion attendance. Planning a class-specific gathering is another way to encourage classmates to take part in the festivities. Lastly, coordinating a reunion gift provides an opportunity for a class to have a direct impact on Riverdale and to show support for the school.

Alumni Association Executive Committee (AAEC)
The AAEC is composed of Riverdale alumni from a cross-section of class years, led by a president and vice president. Each AAEC committee member selects an area of interest within the AAEC structure (i.e. Careers, Communication, Development, Events, or Nominating). Members participate in their sub-committee meetings and work to ensure that the goals are met. Nomination for the AAEC is based on class years and decades in need of representation.

Career Mentoring and Internships
Riverdale is always happy to coordinate with alumni who are interested in becoming a mentor for a younger alumnus/a and/or who may have available internships for our juniors, seniors, or graduates.

Please contact Robin Gottlieb, Director of Alumni Affairs, for more information on volunteer opportunities.
