Computer Studies Computer studies begin in Pre-Kindergarten and continue throughout the Lower School. Students use Macintosh computers with a variety of software that supports the curriculum. Younger children, in Pre-Kindergarten through Second Grade, work on the computer in their classrooms, under the guidance of teachers, peers, or parent volunteers.
The premise of the computer program at this age level is that exposure and experience build confidence and competence. The common themes of the computer programs are to promote problem-solving skills, to use content-specific multimedia CD-ROMs that accommodate different learning styles, to enrich and enhance grade-specific skills and concepts, to encourage creativity, and to provide an arena for children to express themselves.
Formal instruction in computer studies begins in the Third Grade. See curriculum to learn more about computer instruction in the Lower School.
