Thank you for your interest in Riverdale Country School.
Riverdale is looking for students who can contribute to the diversity of talents and the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic mix of our population. We seek to enroll the best-qualified students.
As we build our interesting and balanced classes, we look for students who will participate in our community life in various ways - in the classroom, in the arts studios, on stage, and on the athletic fields.
Admission decisions for grades Pre Kindergarten through 12 are based on the applicant's school records, recommendations from current teachers, standardized testing, and a personal interview. We also require a writing sample from applicants to grades three through twelve (a student project for grades 3 through 5 and a series of essays for grades 6 through 12).
Pre Kindergarten applicants must be at least four years old and Kindergarten applicants must be at least five years old by September 1 of the year in which they would enter.
Traditional entry points are Pre Kindergarten, Kindergarten, grade six, and grade nine. New students are admitted at all levels through grade eleven if space permits.
We seek diversity in our faculty, staff, and student body. In admissions and employment policies and practices, in scholarship aid programs, and in all of our educational programs, Riverdale does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, religion, ethnic origin, or sexual orientation.
