In 2015, Riverdale began a project with the global design firm, IDEO, to create a platform to encourage innovation among classroom teachers.
Known as The Teachers Guild, the platform took off as educators from around the country began offering ideas for improving teaching. The Teachers Guild joined Michelle Obama’s Better Make Room initiative to consider how to encourage more people to continue their education beyond college.
The Teachers Guild collaboration grew out of an earlier project by IDEO and Riverdale, Design Thinking for Educators Toolkit, that provided instructions about how to use design thinking in a K-12 setting. Now in its second edition, the toolkit has reached more than 100,000 educators worldwide.
