Erica Babad, director of the Infant-Toddler Center, has cared for many of the school’s youngest members for more than 20 years.

Erica Babad, director of the Infant-Toddler Center, has announced that she will retire in June.

In a note to the staff, Head of School Dominic A.A. Randolph wrote:

“For more than 20 years, Erica has cared for the youngest members of our community as well as their parents (her colleagues and peers at Horace Mann and Fieldston). She started her Riverdale career working with Lorraine Mahony at the Lower School and has been the Director of the Infant Toddler Center (ITC) since 2001 when the ITC moved from its old location in Hackett to its present location in Mundelein Hall.

“Erica and her team are a constant source of joy in our community and make us all understand that education is intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical. Thank you, Erica, for leavening our community with such happiness and such joy. You will be sorely missed, but we will be able to keep building an even stronger program based on your legacy. We will always channel your care, your thoughtfulness, and your ability to keep the younger and older members of our community calm and focused on the really important things in life. Thank you. We wish you continued joy in your retirement and hope that you continue to create the harmony in the people around you as you have always done at Riverdale.”
