One Small Square at Wave Hill

In first grade, students leave the Lower School campus and head to a special place, a "small square" of woods on the grounds of neighboring Wave Hill. The yearlong experience introduces the children to scientific thinking and encourages them to become stewards of nature. Learn more.



Mission Possible: 8th Graders Test "Escape" Game 

Popular with gamers and Wall Streeters alike, "Escape the Room" is a physical adventure challenge in which players compete against the clock to solve a series of puzzles using different problem-solving skills and strategies. This year, the 8th grade is piloting a boxed version of the game to help students learn about leadership. Learn more.


Girlhood: Growing Up At Riverdale

In sixth grade, Amanda Chiles was new to Riverdale and all the school had to offer.  Six years later, she looked back at her younger self and reflected on who she had become. Learn more.




Fall Teams Attract Record Number of Athletes 

Riverdale offers seven fall varsity teams: football, volleyball, field hockey, boys and girls soccer, and boys and girls cross country. Our athletes have had some standout performances this fall. Boys and girls soccer are in the NYSAIS semi-final matches tomorrow. Read more. 


Guest Speakers

The Middle and Upper Schools attract an array of speakers who offer perspectives on art, science, society, culture, politics, and other subjects. Many of these talks can be viewed on the school's Livestream channel, including the speech by Joanne Bland, left, a civil rights activist who co-founded the National Voting Rights Museum in Selma.
