MS Assembly: Amanda Quaid '01

We are pleased to welcome Amanda Quaid, alumna, director, writer, producer and actor, as she shares immigrant voices, past and present, with the Middle School in a riveting, interpretative performance.  
Amanda is a specialist with accents and tries to preserve the integrity of the people she portrays by faithfully capturing their accents and patterns of speech in her performances.  
Seating is limited in the theater and The Communications Team plans to livestream the event for those who are unable to attend or would like to view at a later time.

Excerpted Bio

Amanda Quaid is an actor, filmmaker, and teacher from New York City. Her love of theater began in the audience of the Broadway production of Cats, and she began performing as a child dancer at the Joffrey Ballet. 

Her first professional role was Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival age 18, and she got her Equity card playing Rosalind in As You Like It at the Folger. She made her Broadway debut in 2008 in Equus

She has directed two short films: Toyswhich she also animated (Official Selection: Palm Springs ShortFest, LA Shorts Fest), and Englishwhich premiered at Cannes Short Film Corner. She has a third short film and a feature screenplay in development. 

As an educator, Quaid is on the faculty of HB Studio and Freeman Studio, where she teaches actors to work with dialects and heightened language. She was recently featured on WNYC's Studio 360, teaching a British accent to host Kurt Anderson.
