Riverdale's Tower Society Guided Tour and Cocktail Reception
Posted 09/18/2014 04:05PM

On Tuesday, September 16, 2014, Riverdale's Tower Society members were treated to a special guided tour of the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, facilitated by fellow member and trustee emerita Linda Lindenbaum '54; P'77, '81; GP'05, ’07, ’11, ’15, ’19, ’20. This behind-the-scenes visit, which started in Englehard Court, highlighted paintings by Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Thomas Cole, and, of course, Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze's Washington Crossing the Delaware, as well as a stop at the Frank Lloyd Wright period room. The tour was immediately followed by a festive cocktail reception at the nearby home of fellow members Glenn and Eva Dubin P'15.

This event was the second gathering of the Tower Society, which was established by Riverdale in January 2014 to recognize some of the school’s most generous donors. The title pays tribute to the school’s geographic position on the Hill Campus and the architecture of the school’s first building, but also alludes to our mission to provide the highest-caliber education to our students. Members serve as an example for those who follow in their footsteps as the school continues to excel in the increasingly challenging and rewarding work of educating our students to thrive in an ever-more complex world by incorporating a commitment to mind, character, and community in their lives.
