What better way to learn to love reading than to meet the authors of some of your favorite books, face-to-face? The librarians prepare students for author visits by sharing their books and interesting facts about their lives. During their visits, authors present information about the writing process and their publishing experiences. The best part of their visits, though, is when they read from their books and answer questions. Several authors have also taken their visits one step further, leading students in different types of writing extension activities. We love to be able to connect the visits to our LS Write Now initiatives. Recently, Leslie Day and Trudy Smoke encouraged students to create a map and guide for the trees on the campus after they presented their book in an assembly.
