Riverdale has been a leader in interdisciplinary coursework at the high school level for more than 30 years. When we opened the Middle School division in 2005, it was important for us to continue the tradition of interdisciplinary learning here, as well.
Although the Middle School does not feature capstone interdisciplinary courses the way the Upper School does, most of our Middle School courses include interdisciplinary projects that teach them to make connections and use the knowledge they acquire in one area to build understanding in other disciplines.
All Middle School students participate in a week-long interdisciplinary, project-based learning experience, which replaces mid-term examinations.
Learning across disciplines
Riverdale's collaborative environment creates opportunities for interdisciplinary learning.
