Upper School students build their solid STEAM and liberal arts foundation during 9th and 10th grade, and then challenge themselves in our interdisciplinary programs and electives during their last two years.
To thrive in college and in life, students must learn how to think, how to ask good questions, how to read, and how to construct effective arguments. With these goals in mind, we have eliminated advanced placement courses and their emphasis on rote subject knowledge.
A Riverdale graduate can make broad connections across disciplines but demonstrate deep understanding and skills within each core area. Most important, each student learns how they learn best, how to make the most of opportunities, and how to direct themselves and collaborate in a dynamic learning environment.
