The Marc A. Zambetti '80 Athletic Center includes a beautiful, full-sized gymnasium that seats 450 people and features a competition basketball court/volleyball court and two smaller courts running side-to-side with a divider, allowing the gymnasium to be separated into two spaces. In addition, two batting cages and a portable pitching mound allow for indoor practices for baseball and softball.
The Mnuchin Family Pool, a six-lane, 25-yard swimming pool with a fully electronic, touch-pad timing system and a gallery area that seats 200, is located on the lower level of the Athletic Center. The athletics practice room and a Martin Schneider Fencing Room are situated on the upper level. The fencing room accommodates two full-sized competition strips with six practice areas and features state-of-the-art electric scoring equipment.
The Robert A. Staub Fitness Center is a professional-caliber training room that is run by a full-time strength and conditioning coach. Our largest outdoor athletic facility is the Frank J. Bertino Memorial Field, named after New York football coaching legend and Riverdale's former 40-year athletic director and head football coach. Frank J. Bertino Memorial Field is a synthetic turf field manufactured by Limonta and trade named Geo-Turf. Limonta Geo Turf is the only turf company to receive an official endorsement from the National Green Energy Council in recognition of providing environmentally friendly products and services. By using the Limonta turf in combination with an entirely organic infill, composed of coconut husk fiber and cork, we are providing the most durable and environmentally friendly synthetic turf field that is currently available. Just under the synthetic turf, Riverdale employs a product called Brock Powerbase, which markedly improves the overall safety of the field by creating a softer landing than a typical natural turf field while still providing the fast playing surface required for football, soccer, lacrosse, and field hockey. The Alumni Memorial Field and Frankel Field, which are sand-based natural grass fields, opened for play in the fall of 2002. They provide two of the nicest playing surfaces in the metropolitan New York area for field hockey, soccer, and lacrosse.
Outdoor tennis courts are available on both the Hill and River Campuses.
