British Educator Chosen As First Zagat Global Fellow
Posted 03/07/2016 05:33PM

Riverdale Country School has selected Dr. David James as its inaugural Zagat Global Fellow.

Dr. James, left, will be in residence on the Riverdale campus starting Monday, April 4th. During his 10-day visit, he will participate in classes, sessions with Riverdale faculty, and an alumni-sponsored panel on education.

Head of School Dominic A.A. Randolph noted: "Dr. James is a brilliant educator and visionary. We are thrilled to have his expertise on campus and are delighted that the Zagat Global Fellows program will be launched with such a distinguished representative."

Dr. James is a deputy head teacher at the Bryanston School, a leading co-educational independent school for both day and boarding pupils, located 120 miles southwest of London, England. He has nearly 20 years teaching experience and is also an author and editor for Cambridge University Press and consultant editor for Hodder's International Baccalaureate Review quarterly magazine. He is editing World Class: Tackling the Ten Biggest Challenges Facing Schools Today, which will be published in 2017.

Dr. James has been a teacher in residence at the Department for Education (based in Westminster), and has also worked for the International Baccalaureate on their global review of the Middle Years Programme as senior schools advisor.

He was the director of the Sunday Times Festival of Education, which has been the leading educational event in the United Kingdom for the last seven years, and is a Google certified teacher.

The Zagat Global Fellows program was established by Riverdale alumnus Tim Zagat '57 in 2015 to build on Riverdale's long history of international education. It is intended to foster a partnership among Riverdale and schools worldwide with the purpose of introducing international educators to the Riverdale community for extended visits each year while also providing Riverdale faculty members an opportunity to become reciprocally immersed in each partner school's educational program. This exchange will allow Riverdale Country School to increase global connections and deepen the community's understanding of other cultures.
