Upper School News & Stories
Summer Study at Riverdale, a new program emphasizing learning skills and strategies for students entering 7th through 9th grade, will be offered at Riverdale this summer.
The half-day morning classes are:
- Pre-Algebra for Rising 7th and 8th Graders
- Algebra for Rising 9th Graders
- Analytical Reading and Writing
- Creative Writing
The courses will meet in the Upper Learning Building on the Lower School campus. They will be taught by members of Riverdale's Middle and Upper School faculty. Courses will be offered in two three-week sessions and one six-week session from June 18 to July 27.
All the courses will address "learning how to learn," a set of skills and understandings that are essential not only for academic success but also for personal growth and well-being. Examples include understanding how to stay focused, how to study, how to be an involved participant in class, and how to make and retrieve memories given what is known about brain science.
