Four seniors from the Class of 2002 will be heading off in the fall to play collegiate athletics. They are:

  • Lindsay Brail – Rowing, Harvard
  • Thomas “Moose” Harrison – Rowing, Dartmouth
  • Ethan Reich – Soccer, MIT
  • Austin Simpson – Swimming, Duke

These athletes have competed for Riverdale, locally and nationally. For example, Simpson holds six school records in swimming, and served as captain of the 2021-22 season. He is not only the Most Valuable Player of this year, but has also been 1st Team All Ivy three times and 2nd Team All Ivy two times.

Additionally, Reich was both captain and MVP as well as 1st Team All Ivy this past season.

Harrison was awarded the Coaches Award in Crew during 2018-19, and will travel to Nationals this year.

Brail competes nationally and served not only as captain of the Crew team but also as captain of the Squash team. She was 1st Team All Ivy in Squash during the 19-20 season and the MVP of Squash in 2018-19.

Athletic Director John Pizzi says, “These four individuals embody the definition of ‘scholar-athlete.’” They have truly thrived at Riverdale in all areas—not just in sports. We are extremely excited to see them continue their success on and off the fields, courts and water in the coming years.”
