Summer Programs

Each summer Riverdale offers a range of academic and recreational programs to its own students and students from other schools. Our ever-expanding Project Knowmad, taught by Riverdale faculty, is an experiential learning program that uses New York City as a classroom. Knowmad is open to rising 5th graders and above. The Riverdale Hill Campus is home to one branch of ESF Summer Camps, in which students aged three to 15 can participate. New in summer 2018 are Summer Study at Riverdale, a middle school academic program led by Riverdale faculty that emphasizes learning skills, and Girls Who Code Campus, which offers two-week beginner and advanced technology courses for girls in middle and high school.

Girls Who Code

Girls Who Code is a non-profit organization whose mission is to "close the gender gap in tech, one girl at a time." It was founded on the belief that computing skills are a critical path to security and prosperity in today’s job market, and that girls everywhere are united by their passion to use technology to make a positive impact on the world.

In summer 2018 Riverdale will partner with Girls Who Code to host their specialized summer program, Girls Who Code Campus. The following two-week sessions are offered:

  • Wearable Tech & Fashion Design: June 18–29, 2018

  • Website Design & Development: July 9–20, 2018
