Advisor Program
Students are placed in small advisor groups of 10-12 that meet several times a week. The goal of the Riverdale advisor program is to provide another layer of support for our students - academically and otherwise. Advisors act as another adult in the community (in addition to their dean, teachers, coaches, etc.) that knows a student well and can serve as a sounding board and role model throughout his or her time at Riverdale. Deans, school counselors, the nurse, and advisors work together to foster growth and wellness in all areas of our students’ lives.
Through activities and discussions, students gain a better understanding of who they are and what interests them. Advisor meetings provide opportunities for them to learn about school resources, discuss recent and upcoming assemblies, and reflect on social issues that affect them as high school students.
