Vivian Ostfeld ’26 made Riverdale history last fall, becoming the first Falcon girl to win the NYSAIS cross-country championship — and she did it with confidence, grit, and heart. After crossing the line in 19:03 to take the title, Ostfeld described the moment as “surreal and incredible,” reflecting the steady mindset she brings to competition and to her art.

A lifelong dancer and current dance team captain, Ostfeld values pursuing athletics and the arts side by side, seeing both as powerful forms of expression. She brings the same focus and determination to the classroom, thriving in challenging academic courses and demonstrating resilience and problem-solving.

“It’s great to win the race and get the good grade,” she shared, “but it’s really what’s going on behind the scenes that leads to that moment.” Her achievement is not just a milestone for Riverdale athletics, but a celebration of the curiosity, commitment, and joy she brings to everything she does.
