Report of Gifts 2020-2021

From the Board of Trustees

Chair, Board of Trustees

I am pleased to present Riverdale’s 2020-2021 Annual Report, which recognizes the alumni, parents, students, faculty, staff, volunteers, and friends who have shown their support of the school in various ways throughout the 2020-2021 academic and fiscal year (July 1, 2020-June 30, 2021).

We received more than $5.1 million in Annual Fund commitments—a record in Riverdale’s fundraising history—from 1,930 supporters. This is even more impressive in the midst of a global pandemic. I cannot thank you enough for your contribution, no matter the amount, as our collective efforts always make a more sizable impact than any one gift could on its own. Thank you for your generosity.

Annual Fund contributions are always a necessary source of funding; these gifts bridge the gap in tuition revenue and the cost to run our school. They ensure that we can attract and retain our extraordinary faculty, maintain a robust financial aid budget, and adapt to whatever comes our way while maintaining the fiscal stability of the school’s endowment. However, last year even more clearly underscored the importance of unrestricted Annual Fund donations, which, in the face of unprecedented circumstances, helped the school continue to carry out our longstanding mission: to empower lifelong learning so that our students can change our world for the good.

I am proud to be part of this community and celebrate the generosity of so many who have lifted up Riverdale during such an uncertain time. I know that you join me in hoping for brighter days ahead and look forward to working together to help make that a reality.
