If you opt-out of Riverdale’s health insurance plan and are covered by another plan, you are entitled to receive up to $1,000 per fiscal year (July 1 through June 30) upon presentation of a signed waiver and proof of coverage.

Coverage for a disability for three months (not a job-related accident).

A flexible benefits program (cafeteria plan) for health care and dependent care expenses. The plan operates on a calendar year (January to December). Pre-tax contributions can be made in line with IRS guidelines.
Defined Contribution Plan
After one year as a full-time employee, you may join Riverdale’s Defined Contribution Plan with Teachers Insurance Annuity Association (TIAA). Riverdale contributes an amount equal to seven percent (7%) of your annual salary to a retirement account. Faculty and staff with more than 20 years of school experience receive 10 percent. The waiting period is waived for those with previous school experience.
Supplemental Retirement Account
You may deposit pre-tax dollars via payroll deduction in your TIAA retirement. account. (Subject to FICA.)
Employees who seek additional/advanced degrees will be reimbursed up to $1,000 per fiscal year.
Funds are available to faculty for study and attendance at professional meetings. Additional funds are available for special projects.
Pre-tax contributions can be made for eligible transit or parking expenses that fall within IRS guidelines.
Full-time members of the teaching faculty are eligible for a sabbatical after 10 consecutive years of service. Generally, 10 to 12 faculty members are on sabbatical in a given year.
Full-time childcare is available to the children of employees, age three months to three years. Space availability and tuition information are available upon request.
Stipends ranging from about $2,000 to $10,000 per year are offered to faculty and staff members. Approximately 70% of employees receive stipends.
