College Office

Riverdale students are admitted to and attend the traditionally most selective liberal arts colleges and universities throughout the country and abroad, as well as professional art and theater institutes and music conservatories. As a result, it is typical for the 115 or so students in each class to be enrolled at more than 50 different institutions located around the world.

From a global perspective, students are valued for the rigor of the interdisciplinary approach that is the cornerstone of the curriculum highlighted by Constructing America and Integrated Liberal Studies. They are especially recognized for the sophisticated approach to learning that has been fostered by the teaching here. They are also recognized for their accomplishments outside of the classroom where they have been able to creatively apply their knowledge and skills across traditional disciplines in real-world settings.

The college counseling program emphasizes careful, long-term planning, research, and frequent communication among students, their families, and their counselors as they plan for the next phase of their education. Students are encouraged to recognize the enormous diversity of options available to them and to think about the range of their own interests, talents, and potential; matching students to the right college is paramount.
