We require families to complete a two-part application. Complete our online application by starting an account in Ravenna at www.ravenna-hub.com. Look for Riverdale Country School in the Online Directory to begin your application. You must submit the admission application and $60 application fee before you will be able to schedule your interview appointment.

Please submit your Preliminary Forms (Admission Application) by Wednesday, November 15, 2017. The Final Forms (all supplemental materials) are due on Friday, January 5, 2018. If you are interested in submitting a late application, please contact the Admission Office before completing an online application.

Riverdale provides application fee waivers for students from the following programs: Boys Club, Breakthrough New York, De La Salle Academy, Early Steps, George Jackson Academy, Oliver Scholars, Prep for Prep, REACH Prep, and TEAK. Applicants from the A Better Chance Program will also receive fee waivers. A Better Chance students will be contacted by our office when they are invited to apply. If you require a fee waiver, regardless of your participation in these programs, please contact the Financial Aid Office at financialaid@riverdale.edu.

Please note that the student name, parent name(s) and address(es), and sibling name(s) are entered in the Student Profile. If you need to make changes to this information, please click Go Back to Applications and then click Student Profile on the left.

1st-5th Grade Applicants: We consider applications to these grades based on attrition. Please note that financial aid for these grades is limited. If we are able to consider the child's application, we will contact the family by December 15 to schedule an interview. If you are applying from outside the New York City metropolitan area and are visiting New York in the fall, please call the Lower School Admission Office to discuss interview date possibilities. Please submit the application, send the prior year report card to admission@riverdale.edu, and submit the AABL (Grade 1 applicants), ECAA (Grade 2-4 applicants), or the ISEE or SSAT (Grade 5 applicants) by December 1, and we will determine if we can interview your child.

Riverdale carefully considers the many dimensions of a balanced elementary classroom when creating a class, including gender, personality, diversity, ability, and age range. The birthdate range of September 1st to September 1st typically works well for our program. However, we pay close attention to each child's development and we are happy to discuss your child's placement at the time of the student interview. We encourage open and honest dialogue between prospective families and the Admission team.

Please refer to the chart below for suggested grade level/date of birth placement:

Schedule an Interview

Schedule an Interview

Pre-Kindergarten Applicants: Applicants to Pre-Kindergarten may interview in late December and early January. We will call Pre-Kindergarten applicants after November 1 to schedule the interview.

Each interview is scheduled for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The visit is designed as a combination of a group experience and a one-on-one interview to individually assess each candidate. We also meet with the parents or guardians who accompany the child for about 15 minutes. This is an opportunity to ask questions and to share information about the child. We have a comfortable, supervised waiting room for the children during this time.

Kindergarten Applicants: Please contact us to schedule your child's interview at least 24 hours after you have submitted the Preliminary Forms of the application. The deadline to schedule an interview is Friday, November 17, 2017. The Lower School Admission Office can be reached at (718) 432-4802. Kindergarten applicants may interview between late September and late December 2017.
