Riverdale’s internship program, open to sophomores and juniors, is designed to prepare students for the world of work. Through skill-building seminars, group and individual guidance, and access to an extensive list of internships, the program encourages students to thoughtfully assess their academic achievements and extracurricular interests in the context of career possibilities.
Two on-campus seminars focus on resume and cover letter writing, and interview skills and professionalism. Students use these assets to create and submit their internship applications, and to prepare for what is for many their first work experience.
Internships are provided by Riverdale parents, alumni, and organizations known to the school, and offer challenging, real-world opportunities in a diverse range of fields including finance, law, medicine, technology, fashion, film, television, and the arts.
Juniors may apply to the internships provided by current parents and alumni, while sophomores are guided towards other opportunities for which they qualify and that are a good match for their interests. Students must attend both seminars in order to remain in the program.
