Lower School Outdoors
Outdoor education gives students outlets for their energy, creativity, and curiosity, and builds character strengths related to resiliency and interpersonal relations. Physical education classes use the full-size playing field, tennis courts, and basketball courts, while a full-time playworker organizes loose parts and seasonal activities to inspire inventive thinking and imaginary play. Environmental educators are on hand to identify interesting plants and bugs. Time outdoors encourages physical and emotional well-being, sharpens the senses, and inspires new ideas. It teaches students an appreciation for nature and cultivates a spirit of risk-taking and adventure, preparing students for new experiences in the Middle and Upper Schools.
